About Hope Unveil

The Challenge

Did you know that……… Due to the public, institutional & self Stigma, Brain disorders are barely discussed, diagnosed and treated? Inadequate funding has resulted in treating mental health care as “one size fit all “ which is outdated and Lacking.
Education and awareness are potential keys to understanding and managing Mental Health for family caregivers and the communities but are insufficient and limited
Family caregivers are stressed, burden, remain ignored and neglected but are the key support systems who take on multiple roles in providing care
Reduced quality of life & expectancy: A crisis intervention call (psychosis) can lead to a tase or death. How? Because, usually, untrained Crisis Intervention Team Police are more likely to respond to a psychosis emergency call which ends up with a cuff to jail or the emergency.

Why Choose Genical

Our Story

Founded in 2020 by Bernice Parry, Hope Unveil INC is a registered non-profit based in Cincinnati, Ohio.

After years of witnessing how discrimination and social stigma negatively affects the quality of life of both people with mental illness and their support systems, Bernice became dedicated to reducing the stigma and prejudice surrounding mental illness. Bernice’s hope was that someday, mental illness will be regarded with the same level of seriousness and compassion that physical illnesses are regarded with. Ultimately, mental health should be perceived as a critical component of overall wellness, and not as a source of shame and a ground for social ostracism.

Bernice sought to realize this goal through evidence-based, empathy driven methods— the aim being to connect directly with people who are affected by mental illness in order to make them feel seen and to empower them to reclaim their self-agency over their recovery and general well-being.

And so, Hope Unveil INC was born.

According to the American Psychiatric Association, more than 50% of people with mental illness do not seek out help for their disorders because they are afraid of the negative social consequences.
